Welcome to KM Baysal Editing.
Are you a fiction author ready to take your manuscript to the next stage? Are you looking for help tightening your sentences, catching grammatical errors, or improving the flow of your story? Maybe you’re concerned about the overuse of dialogue tags or beats. Or are you simply looking for someone to do one last proofread before you start querying or hit publish?
I can help. Take a look at the editing services page to explore my services. I offer reasonable, per-word rates based on the level of editing needed and scope of the project.
While I’m happy to work on a wide range of materials (fiction and non-fiction), I specialize in fiction and have a special interest in working with self-publishers.
I hold a bachelor of arts degree in English Literature from New York University and a master of arts degree in International Relations from New School University. I have worked in academic and non-profit settings for almost twenty years, formally and informally editing and proofreading various documents: anything from press releases to grant proposals, and everything in between.
My beloved, dog-eared copies of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary are never far from my side. I also take every available opportunity to attend copyediting classes and webinars. I am currently a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.
I approach every project with enthusiasm and care; I get a thrill from helping my clients’ work reach its fullest potential. If careful, thoughtful, constructive editing is what you are seeking, look no further.
In my spare time, I am an avid reader and writer of fiction and short stories. I have high hopes for completing my first novel in 2019.
